I am always looking for inspiration!!! Sometimes just spurred by a comment in conversation and sometimes just find inspiration (whether in life or dogtraining), when I least expect it. This is a nicely done video, from someone graduating Siliva Trkman's puppy foundation class. Lovely looking Terv, too!! I wonder if I should try one of the long distance classes?? If only.....or could just watch other's videos...
So...one of my other Resolutions for the New Year...find new inspiration more often-in terms of life, can always learn something new or gain new perspective. In terms of training, something new or different intrigues me and also keeps things fresh!
This video below, the beginning stages..from another trainer in Istanbul, taking ST's online classes.
So, tonight....Haunt & Scream! worked on casual hand touch recalls, setting up at heel position on both right & left, foot touching onto lid and duration there, beginning of moving back feet in circle-while keeping front feet on target, learning a stretch on pillow for beginning of frog legs kicking out behind them (Haunt so funny~he improvised adding a full body rollover, as the finishing touch to the stretch), we worked on paws and "be a bear" sits up on haunches for balance.
The photo of Scream! "Be a Bear", from the agility party, the other night...no stage fright in this one!!! We also worked on impulse control for tug toy and gaining access to it...and can't think of what else. First real session with a clicker, took a couple of reps-both BOyz got the idea, very quickly! They both like the idea of training too-such focus for such young babes!
Also, did some stuff with some of the others...Maze got to work on Rally stuff-her fave..she literally vibrates with anticipation and foot stomps in excitement while holding her sit, trying to not jump on me. Think I will do more of the lid work with her, for pivots at heel. We have been working on a flipfinish...as could be imagined, a vertical dog loves flying into position! What is interesting is that I know that I worked on more foundation attention heeling on both sides like ST has in her program, with Maze & Ggrail...yet not as much with C'ura and Quechee...so going to go back and do so. That, of all things will help with Q's working distance, flexibility! Duh! Last night, she was so into it...and reviewing/building more value for hand touch too...that does not seem to have the reward history association that I thought it did, for her.
Moss worked on his conditioning/stretches, the young girls also worked on crate games & also feet in lid and pivots...the others, rewarded for being quiet, while we worked :) This type of stuff, perfect for indoor training, as winter sets in.
I'm inspired, but tired!! now there's a rhyme, for night~time...ha!
Footnote: It is also a good idea to resolve to pay attention, not only to details...but to moderation. The BOyz were such willing students @ just 9 weeks last night-even with tiny reward pieces, too much...so woke me up several times to be let out to "go"...they had a large dinner, with tons of treats on top of that...dumb me. So, I am still tired....
