The Tilt'n Diner....is like a Pink Oasis of onion ring heaven, in the midst of highway and outlet madness, most would say in the middle of nowhere!!! But, not so far from where I live-here in the Diner, you are definitely somewhere. A mecca for locals, skiers, tourists & shoppers....One of my faves!!! My friends and I, eat here quite often. Thank god, all of the current electoral Presidential wannabees have left the state, and the Diner returns to its Switzerland-neutral, proponent of the common man, quiet self. I tend to think this Diner is more of the Democratic nation, even here in this northern part of the republic, anyway.
Alex Ray, who started the Common Man chain, is a genius. Finding old buildings and converting them into a variety of restaurants, throughout NH.
Fine dining to comfort food, the variety dependent upon the locale. Wonder if he needs a really good REALTOR to help scout out new buildings???? :) Now that would be fun to work on!!!
If I could make just one suggestion, as one who is a regular at many of the restaurants, assuming my musings are actually read by anyone????......a few more vegetarian options on the menu at the Diner? Like take your fantastic veggie burger and offer veggie meatballs & spaghetti or better yet, please, please make a vegetarian version of Shepherd's pie...PLEASE!! Or tofu pups & mac n cheese??? I'm not asking for vegan-I do eat eggs as I figure they are future generations, but not on earth yet and also have the "cheese gene" that runs in my family afterall. Some meatfree versions, of the standard comfort food, would be fabulous.
For anyone who LOVES Breakfast at anytime of the day or Onion Rings, the Diner is it! Not to mention when I asked to sub something for ham-and they made me an Eggs Florentine Benedict last night with freshly made spinach (all that shovelling means EAT!)...have to say one of the best Hollandaise sauces I have tasted. I did not have onion rings last night, but usually end up taking a bunch home and eating cold for breakfast :) If you like cold pizza or lasagne, you understand.
Anyway, yesterday was our first snow of the year and kind of, for the season, as a storm in late Fall doesn't really count as Winter. Ice this morning :( Started to get stir crazy as the storm carried on in the afternoon yesterday-balefully gazing towards the road, from my snowed in driveway. My hill is scary until the plows have also sanded heavily, so that is always quite exciting!!! Knew I needed to get out to get cat food & alfalfa and grain for the critters. Decided to bust through the mountains at the end of the driveway, made by the plows and used low gear all the way downhill. Scream! also needed his daily out and about, for socialization. No grain the woolies usually get at TSC, so Sweet Feed it was! Tractor Supply has a great All Stock Sweet Feed good for goats & safe with no copper for the woolies. I usually give grain in colder weather-to keep up their weight and just because. Luckily got hay, the day before.
Scream! had a blast, exploring a new place-including the plow mountains, in the parking lot. He is a pretty amazing pup. Not much of the body sensitivity in new places, I usually see in the BC babes. Very happy meeting lots of new people, especially men with big boots. He travels so quietly in the car, not much adjustment getting out into new environments, either. Even with the snow and cold, happy to explore. We worked on his perch work-front paws up, moving hind end, on the stacked bags of barn lime and also reinforced touching with front paws, a bunch of different surfaces. He has great duration, for such a young pup-already understands maintaining position to gain another reward-smarty boy!!! He also figured out how to ride the low, rolling shopping cart at TSC...funny boy.

The sun seems to be trying to appear today, just hoping the layer of ice melts. Scary, treacherous....maybe I need some onion rings, later..
