LEAP!!!

Baby Scream! 4 years ago
Yup it's leap year, once every four years. In honor of leaping, I have made some decisions today about dog training, sports and some of those surrounding those venues. Been hovering on the edge of deciding for awhile on some things, feels good to have landed solidly on the ground.

Lost my girl Fflur a few weeks back, have not been able to say the words out loud. Many kindnesses of those who have checked in on me, knowing how much I loved her. Sincerity and true empathy (not the phony crap some pretend) is such a strong, important thing in a person. In honor of Leap year I am saying to you who are all real, you totally rock.

It feels like Spring today, complete with mud. Still
ice to melt, but on 2-29-16, I am feeling like leaping all over the place. Air and
sun are warmer, being able to be outside and train on stock has been
amazing. This morning worked with baby Teg and the Speckled one. Speck has made some progress, loosening up on flanks, working on keeping him in his feet to reduce some of the sticky he came with. He loves me, he has been a good distraction to help through missing Fflur. I am enjoying training him, his house manners are much improved and settling into a groove.

Teg is scary. Six months old two days ago, she is part pit bull in intent. Poor ewe had a tiny black and white succubus leaping onto and catching a ride at one point. She is so strong, might have to think about a better way to get her started.   Think cattle would be easy for her, oh my.

Friday was blustery and cold with 20f windchill...Teg, Suede and Kestrel got to train in some disc at the field. Suede is so light on his feet, did not expect the vertical out of the big red puppy. Not letting him leap too much of course. Teg is loving it, and Kestrel just loves doing everything and anything.

Suede earned his first tittle in puppy rally obedience, with a runoff for his third Q and a placement in a tie in score.  RLP with an AOE, for high
scores...award of excellence. Second trial, a Q towards B level, good puppy. This weekend was busy!  Suede did some really nice stock work this weekend too. First big outrun and gather, wearing calmly and efficiently the entire length of two acre field back to me. He's pretty brilliant for a baby dog. Of course, he reverted back to puppy buttheaded-ness at one point, but he is so young still. But, making progress by leaps and bounds. Have started looking at sheepdog trial entries for summer...can't wait for the clocks to leap forward soon.

So, Happy Leap Year Day! it is a good day for new...go for it, take a chance, make a choice, something. No time like the present, to be present.
